i'm a northern boy, and when it gets hot (anything north of 80), its almost unbearable to play disc golf in. so i play in the mornings to beat the heat. but in the summer it gets hot in the morning too. right now its 8:40 am and 75F.

i figured out if i soak my shirt in water before a round, it helps immensely with my game. on a sunny day it will even dry out while you are playing and you might have to re-soak it after 9 holes.

so try it! report back! watch your friends crumple in the heat while you are all 'i feel refreshed'. its a lot better than taking your shirt off and continuing to sweat.

Don't ever come to Texas friend.

It's been in the nineties for a couple weeks already. I tend to also go out at sunrise if I can, not only for the heat, but the weather is usually nicer and not as windy.

I wear moisture wicking shirts and shorts in the summer to help the sweat evaporate faster. Much better than wearing cotton and they're fairly inexpensive at Kohl's and places like that.

Frogg Togg Chillypad...get one...completely dry with the same effect.
So the Chilly Pad works pretty well? I've never heard of it, but I'll have to check it out, thanks for the tip B&C.

Here's a link to their website if anyone wants to read about it:

80 degrees in Michigan is too hot to play in?

The reason it sucks throwing in mid 80s heat sometimes is that the humiditiy always seems to be above 90%. It's like walking around with a wet blanket on you. No chance at all of looking presentable at the end of a round.

I'll take playing in a dry Texas 90 walking on flat ground than a humid Michigan 80 climbing an old ski hill, any day.

Im in Ohio so a little different than Michigan but not by much and the answer is, yes!

After spending months in sub-zero weather; it is a rough change.

Or maybe it's because you go outside and realise, "Damn it!...I live in Ohio." :p

I see you're point though, if it's cold for a while then all of a sudden the sun comes out and the humidity rises, it takes a toll on you.

Down here it's just humid all year round so you kind of adapt to it.

I remember playing back in January here and a friend of mine complained of it being very humid, yet it was only like 50 degrees out.

Do you guys have gnat and mosquito problems up there in the summertime too?

Aw ma-a-a-a-an, I saw the title of this thread and my first thought was "Is this a spinoff from the 'sexiest woman' thread?" Then I thought "About time!"

Then I read the posts.

Believe--there is nothing dry about the 92 degrees we have been having everyday. The humidity here will curl your hair, toes, and drives.

Think about it like this, there was snow on the ground not too much more that six weeks ago.

It's been ninety all week and I'm lucky if I can squeeze one round in in the morning before it gets too hot for me.

Spoken like someone who has never played in Houston in the Summer.

The grass is always greener isn't it.

Louisville, Ky isn't even that far south but I assure you we know what heat and humidity is and, at least in the summer, you're getting the better deal.

Psht. Everyone knows that real disc golfers collapse from dehydration!

I don't have Toggs, but I did find these Wet "neck" Ties and when they get soaked for 20 minutes, they really do last for 2 days. When you get warm, just twist them to get the exposed part against your skin again. I have used them for 5 times out in the Texas sun, and I am digging them.
