How much does distance really matter?

I am old.... I am an old skinny wuss who is out of shape and afraid of spiders. I enjoy both disc golf and golf. I can throw 270' on my best day. Yet I shoot in the mid 50s at all but the longest of courses. Why? Accuracy and course management. Disc golf, like golf, is a game of accuracy...

    DISCWING...what do you think?

Got these for Christmas... Im excited about the QKII, it just feels like I can throw it a long way. Rain has prevented me from testing, I will report back soon. I also got the Crosshair and the Transcend. I really dig the Crosshair, it may replace my KC Pro aviar for short approaches/long...

    Tolerating rude players.

Another recourse is get to know people in the local club. Club members are always some of the most courteous and welcoming in my opinion. If the club members learn who the jerks are, they will keep an eye out, and eventually the unwanted people will be outnumbered and chased off the course...

    Tolerating rude players.

I have a saying: Both the best and worst thing about disc golf is that it is free and open to everyone. 97% of the players I meet on the course are great, and one of the courses I frequent is in a pretty shady neighborhood. Unfortunately, the other 3% can really ruin a good time for the rest...

Review by ptsawyer in course Parmelee Park

3.50 star(s) Tight with character Easy to follow, good layout, the logs lining each wooded fairway is a great touch. Solid tee pads. A very enjoyable course, will test your short game and midrange accuracy. Good tee shots are essential to low scores. This course will produce some low scores, given the...

    Tournament Divisions

Anyone know the basic ettiquette for choosing tournament divisions? I have played in 1 tourney so far, but it was doubles. I am a new PDGA memeber, so I do not have a rating. What are the guidelines for choosing? I dont want to sandbag, but I would like to be in a position where I might place...

    Buncr rule??

Does anyone know anything about this new "buncr" rule? Is it a replacement for OB? I read they used it as the USDGC, but I find the whole thing confusing. Can anyone explain in the leymans terms?

    giving up on drives

I can relate. I have 2 friends that throw 330-360 off the tee. I throw about 220-240consistently, 280 if i SMASH one. However, they dont always beat me. Here is some advice. 1. Work on your drives to max out your potential. You need to go to a field, and throw drives for an hour or two...

    Worst Driver Ever

I also personally hate any of the "gimmick" discs, the wheel, (now illegal, for good reason) 10M brick, etc. It reminds me of in regular golf when they have a wedge with ad adjustable loft. No one who is actually good ever uses that stuff, IMO.

    Worst Driver Ever

Worst disc and why There have been a lot of threads about what disc is the best and why, so lets go the other way and talk about discs we hate. Should be fun.... I'll pose two different questions, feel free to talk about either: What is the worst disc you have ever thrown, and why? (for me...

    Par vs Pro Par

I agree with the "pro par" I guess. The problem with using course par, is that there is no consistency from course to course on what a par 3, 4, or 5 is. When I am keeping score in my head, I use 3 as "par" for every hole, and add my over/under to 54 to get my total. That is what I track...

Suddenly throwing farther, but can't figure out why...

You have the right idea. If you want to improve driving distance (or any other aspect of your game), you need to balance time between practice and playing rounds. Practicing in a field has done wonders for my drive technique. Try to balance euqal time between practice and playing rounds for a...

    Tournament Etiquette and practice shots

I guess I didnt know the rules, but now that I have read this thread looks like everything was OK. To clarify a little further, this hole was a very tight, technical wooded shot, so they werent throwing to "warm up the arm", they wanted to practice the specific shot. But as posted above, it...

    [Discraft] top DISCRAFT driver

Maybe a surge SS would be worth a shot, and a lot of people swear by the crush. All of those are too overstable for my arm. Look for discs that have high speed and are highly overstable, and they will be the closest to the wraith and destroyer.
