Started with a spider for everything after my tee shot, then learned a little. Now I rarely throw a mid. I bag an Ibex for general purpose and a Blaze for my hard fades.
I am just quoting for absolute awesomeness.
I have no real aces, no fake aces, 1 field ace and a few hundred putt aces. Well, I guess that depends on your interpretation of field ace. Just how far...?
I started with an Xcal and still use it after 3 years. It's "too much disc" for a beginner, but I had fun! If you want to be a great player, work with your putter and buzz.
Please, always remember this is an amazing past time where the one who has the most fun wins. Just have fun!
I throw almost exclusively RHFH off the pad. My maximum distance is probably 350, but 300 is pretty easy. I throw an xcalibur primarily.
That being said, I agree with Fraser about the stand still practice. After a knee injury, I was forced for a while to throw while being very still. When I...
My wife's extended family will be in Ft. Worth the 26th and 27th of December. Several of us will likely try to hit one course with the possibility of a second. Local advice is much appreciated.
PS. We're all just rec level players who play for fun.
Definitely the two courses at the Lodge in Pawhuska, OK.
In central Oklahoma, I'd go with Dolese, NE Lions, or Noble. Not all really highly rated, bug all very enjoyable disc golf.

So close, yet so far away
This is a very nice, old city park in Wichita Falls. Play winds around through old growth trees, picnic areas, and a nice walkway. The overall experience was very pleasant.
I really appreciated the layout, as it incorporated long and short, left, right, and straight...

Beautiful!
This is one of the most relaxing settings for disc golf I've ever experienced. Such a nice view, great non-dg amenities, and just enough challenge to make it interesting.
Very nice baskets, signs, and pads.
Pretty easy to follow.
Extremely family friendly.
Well, this course doesn't...
Normally, I throw RHFH off the tee, then approach and putt RHBH. So I actually throw close to 60-40 RHBH if everything goes well.
However, any trouble shot or long approach will likely be RHFH, so most rounds are closer to 50/50.
Just returned from my week in Broken Arrow, and I must say I wasn't too favorably impressed with any of the courses. I added Haikey Creek, Neinhuis Park, NSU, and Claremore Lake to my courses played list.
Haikey was disappointing. There were a few decent holes, but mostly just open bombs (which...

Not Worth My Time
Excellent signs, baskets, and concrete pads.
Plenty of parking.
Very nice view of NSU.
Attractive landscape.
This course is basically a pitch and putt, even though the distance is a little longer than your typical p-n-p. Almost every pin is just straight ahead of the pad. Not...
