Beaver State Fling 2016

Saw that CCDG recap and thought it was really good. Different than their normal stuff, and they pulled it off perfectly...dare I say as good as SpinTV?

I liked that they threw footage of Barsby in there; he's a real fan favorite and even though he didnt throw that well for him, good on CCDG for recognizing that the fans want to see Barsby!

I really like watching this event...the courses just look so great. I hesitate to criticize any of the pros because the BSF courses would eat me alive, but Paul's score is surprising. Hope he can afford to take a break from the tour and heal up. If its just a nagging pain, some rest will do wonders (trust me, I deal with this several times per year). I truly hope it isn't anything serious.
Everybody wins with a healthy McBeth... well, not literally, quite the contrary actually... but you know what I mean... Get healthy Paul, if on the off chance you're reading this. It hurts us to watch. Rick will be waiting for you. Hell, we'll all be waiting for you. Get healthy.

only if Paul is injured, and takes extensive time off. Maybe he should though, injuries aren't gonna heal when he is playing, and traveling every week for the next 5 months
His back and knee's have been mentioned as a problem for him this year, I'd say he's definitely not 100%, and like you said with the weekly travel schedule, sleeping in an RV etc, his environment isn't exactly conducive to a quick, full recovery. I'm wondering how'd he do if he disced down a bit to ease up some of that torque.

Wow, when was the last time McBeth was not on the lead, OR chase card? There's still a lot of golf left, but you have to wonder if his back will hold up.
Has he seen a specialist about this?
He usually picks up near the end, but with his back I'm not sure. He posted on social media a few times going to a personal trainer to get stretched and such, but as a NSCA trainer myself, that's not who you go to for back help. A chiro visit is likely needed.
*that's a vague outside looking in view...I don't know everything he's going through so don't quote me as truth here, merely speculation.

Whatever's happened Paul has his work cut out for him... but for some reason(?) I can't convince my brain to count him out...lol, It does appear however that his streak of finishing no worse than second(third?) is in danger.
Yup, I can't bring myself to say he's done either. If he gets hot and the others get average for the next round, that could slingshot him right back up there.

A chiropractor is also not where you go for help. Paul needs to go to a real doctor.

Wow Devan Owens drive on the genius hole (9e) might be the best I've ever seen there, too bad he clanked the putt. Watching those guys kill that hole makes me depressed.

Our definitions are different, I'm not talking a store front fly by night "chiro". I was referring to an M.D. with a practice in chiro/back specialist etc. I wasn't clear on that.

Define "real doctor" most doctors I have been to would treat the symptoms not the cause. So if we wanna see a vicodinned up Mcbeast then yeah he should see a doctor.

There's no such thing as an "MD with a practice in chiro." The only physicians with any training in manipulation are DOs, and their training is more evidence based than what chiropractors get.

I agree that he needs to see a physician (interventional pain or spine surgeon) if he has a real back problem. If time alone is not fixing him, chiropractors, personal trainers, and massage therapists won't either. You wouldn't go to the car wash for brake repair, would you?

nevermind, you're right.

CCDG has a very nice round 1 highlight package up. Really enjoyed it.

This is always a wierd tournament to watch. The course is gorgeous and watching the guys throw big shots in the woods is awesome, but the scoring spread at Milo is TERRIBLE. It's like; up next another 600 foot par four. Everyone gets a three weeeee!!!

I think you should actually get some numbers on the scoring separation there....then go play the courses and ask yourself how awesome it is to have two difficult courses with a SSA that's within a half a stroke of each other.

Watching video of these two courses doesn't do either of them justice. If it looks boring I would just chalk it up to great talents making something difficult look easy.

Holy crap, if philo actually hit a 2 on hole 6w that is the shot of the tourney, glad there are guys out there filming. It is listed as a par 4 on the map and a par 5 on the card, either way that is a crazy 350ft+ field ace around a tricky corner!

Yea, PDGA mentions it, too. Sounds like an insane shot.

You might be thinking DO (osteopathic medicine). As someone in the medical field, I'd say MDs ought to have all the tools to treat that kind of pain, but the best MDs will treat a patient as a whole, not just as a body that needs surgery or vicodin. I'm sure there are chiropractors out there who could help (as well as some who wouldn't), and a mix of physical therapy and rest would probably be the most beneficial. Tough to have time for either of those in the middle of the season.

As far as the tourney goes-- yeah, crazy with Philo hitting that two. Looks like many players are shooting better. I'm guessing the weather isn't quite as bad as yesterday?

A 2 on 6w is incredible.

I've been fortunate to have played in the BSF. These scores are outrageous! My favorite moments were after playing my final round, getting to watch the Pros crush the course that crushed me.

Even though he's on the chase card, I think McBeth (7 back) is Ricky's only competition at this point.

Yeah, too many people chalk up a course being boring or too easy based on watching/following the top card. Same thing happened at the dgwt la mirada. That course was legit tough and Paul just shredded it. I've played BSF a couple times(even have a 54 on the east course) and its NOT EASY!! The reason there isn't huge scoring separation is because there isn't artificial OB, which is what creates alot of scoring variance elsewhere. Very few ropes, no island greens, etc

Also the tournament should be designed for all pros, not just the top few in the world.
