Critters on the course you ran into...

My son and I were hiking and next to this one trail is a vernal pond. Sitting next to the pond what this guy with his phone out obviously filming something. We walk over to see what was of such interest and there are two frogs going to froggy town. This dude was filming frog porn. We continued our hike and about an hour or so later the trail loops back around to the pond and the guy is still there filming the frogs.

A couple of years ago I ran across 2 turtles in more of a doggy position at Zebulon DGC in NC. I have a photo but decided not to post since this is a family friendly website.:D

Kinda??

Also, while seeing that can be somewhat humorous, it's the noises they make that are just plain hilarious.

Yep... Still a little guy though... Unless I don't have the perspective right

The young rattlers can be more dangerous than adults.

* Their venom tends to be stronger
* They can't control the amount of venom released and will release it all
* Their fangs are shorter and tend to deposit venom closer to blood vessels.

I learned about this when I got bit... :(

I would have loved to have heard them. Unfortunately, the walkman ruined my hearing in the 80's. That and chainsaws in the 2000's.
Saw them on the first 2 rounds I played that day. By the time I "played through" the third time, they were gone. I was impressed by Mr. Turtles stamina. Had to be 90 minutes between sightings.

Have you read much of Tom Clancy? Particularly, The Bear and the Dragon?

Someone films animals mating; it's nature... something you might see it on PBS, Discovery Channel, etc.
...can't tell you how many species I've seen mating on public TV.

Someone films people mating = pr0n.

Yep, very common at JB. You are correct, the park is in an urban area, but it's a very large park and the disc golf course is on a small section. Since it's a highly used park and the deer that live there likely do so year round they are accustomed to human encounters and given no hunting they don't spook like regular whitetail.

Just saw a deer the other day at Burnett Woods, near the University of Cincinnati course. Right by a very busy intersection.

Actually, baby rattlers are the worst---they've got the biting part down ok, but the letting go...... not so much.

I used to read a ton of Tom Clancy. I did read the Bear and Dragon when it first came out in early 2000's i believe. It's probably still in my attic. Haven't read any Clancy for a few years. Was there something in Bear & Dragon about turtle sex? I don't remember.

Last weekend, while throwing hole #2 of Ferry Park, I had a run in with a local box turtle. After emptying out a majority of my bag, I noticed a lone disc slowy working its way toward the basket. I lifted up the disc to find a box turtle underneath. Apparently, I managed to plop a firebird, rim down, over the poor little guy. My guess is that he was scrambling to the water for safety, which so happened to be in the direction of the basket. I thanked him for the assistance, concidered carrying him to the nearby creek, but ultimately decided to let him do his own thing.

Saturday A.M. Kendall Indian Hammocks Park west(K2),#10 tee pad. This area of the park is thick with old Live Oaks and Cabbage Palms. As I set my bag down,I hear a "whoosh",a squirrel"shriek"??,see a HUGE Red-Tail Hawk full-frontal wing-span,whiff on the squirrel close enough to throw sand on my bag!Squirrel jumps on Cabbage palm in front of me,hawk lands 25' above me in an Oak,I jump back a step! All three of us looking at one another with WTF JUST HAPPENED! expressions.Think we all may have pooped, just a little bit.....love me some nature!
