[Innova] Blizzard Technology

Ordered a 140g Wraith to try. I have never been able to t hrow these high speed drivers with success is heavy weights. Hope this changes something!

I don't get it. Why throw something that's billed as light weight, but flies like it's max weight counterpart? Why not just throw the max weight? This will ruin you guys for your current heavier weight discs. I guess I'm having a brain fart.

Picked up a 138 Wraith and threw an entire 24 holes with it and it alone. Pretty fun!

I don't have the arm to throw my 170ish Wraith except for headwinds and downhill shots; but I could throw the blizzard pretty well for all types of shots. Definitely more flippy due to my tendency to OAT, especially forehand, but when I threw it well it behaved perfectly.

When can I get a 138 teebird???

I want to try mine on a non-windy day, it was a little hard to judge how they fly today. That said, they seem like they have a lot of distance potential, I'm excited to work with mine a little more.

because with lighter weights its easier to get them up to speed so that they fly like they higher weights

Went to the local shop today, disc n dat, they just got these in. They had all four. I was most interested in the destroyer and the wraith. Each mold had two distinct discs. One had a ton of bubbles in the flight plate the other had none. The ones with the bubbles were super domed. I even compared them to their star counter parts. This is just one more reason I prefer to get my discs after I get a chance to look at them. I went with a 150 destroyer with out the bubbles in the plate. Interested to see how it flies. Will let ya know when I get a chance.

Lighter weight discs require less grip strength to generate the same spin on a disc. So you can get a lot of snap on a throw with less power.

That being said, as you go lower than the mid-160s the wind starts playing around with discs a bit too much for my liking. I'll probably throw the blizzard Destroyer here and there, but only on calmer days. I have a 112g Wizard I also like to bring out on calm days. Light discs are fun! So effortless to throw.

Gyroscopics. Don't forget about gyroscopics. The bubbles in the flight plate move the weight distribution of the disc to the wing. These blizzard discs are supposed to have similar weight in the wing as a 175g has is in the wing. So you're throwing the same 175g driver but with a lighter flight plate. The wind should effect these blizzard disc all that much compared to a 175g. Same gyroscopics.

When you throw TB in DX, which is the way to go anyway.

Edit: They're also available in Champ in the 140 gm range I think?

Doesn't the crazy huge dome create more drag, thus giving the wind more effect? All the Blizzard discs I've seen have UFO domes on them, more so than any regular run Champ I've ever seen.

are the bubbles only in the flight plate or are they proportionally in the wing too?

It depends on the disc, they're all different. Most I've seen at least have some in the flight plate.

The production run that just came out is more flat, and they are fine tuning the process to achieve less/no bubbles in the flight plate, keeping them in mostly/all the rim. I saw a 138 Boss today that was REALLY flat compared to my Blizzard Bosses from the first batch.

What weights are everyone ordering? Thinking of 150, any reason not to go lighter?

But that's exactly what you DONT want. If there are bubbles in the rim the disc is LESS gyroscopic, which isn't what you want in a disc. The more gyroscopic, the more stable the disc is, the better the glide and more forward penetrating fade and wind resistance.

Isn't that counterproductive to the whole gyroscopic weight shift principle that they are going for?

I got myself a couple in the mail when I got home from the full day at work. Im ready to audition them against all my other big D drivers tomorrow after an earlier work day. 150 Boss, 152 and 154 Destroyers.

i've seen a few under 130, but i'm waiting to spot the lowest possible destroyer so i can have a really good weight comparison.
come on 111g!
probably not possible, but who knows...

ITT: everyone assumes they know what Innova is trying to do with their new technology

People just want their wraiths and destroyers to be more like ions, who wouldn't???
