Seems like not as many of the big names are there this year compared to the last couple, I wonder why? Some guys just wanting more practice for the Memorial?

Only two days between Vegas & Memorial is one reason, I think. I hear that's one of the reason PM is skipping it.

Plus I can't imagine many of the pros have had time to play any of them before deciding to sign up or not. I'm going with the "only two days" reason since that's what I've been hearing from most people.

Yeah that's what I'd guess, plus several of the top guys are already at the Memorial throwing practice rounds. McBeth got there last week I think, Wysocki, McCray and Feldberg are all there, with Patrick Brown (hehehe). Wonder if he'll stomp on any Discraft of Innova stuff this year, or cuss at any volunteers.

Yeah, I heard on Smashboxx (I think) that the tournament was using new/different courses this year and that the new one on a ball course was actually pretty rad.

the memorial moved earlier in the week. a week in between would be no help- memorial running friday-sunday would help.

In years past there has been more of a gap in the scheduling. Wonder what happened this time.

You also have the first DGWT event right after the Memorial, so that's a lot of golf in three weeks. Plus this summer's schedule is brutal over a five week period:

July 21-23 - DGWT European Masters
July 29 - 31 - DGPT Majestic
August 6 - 13 - Worlds
August 18 - 21 - DGPT Ledgestone
August 26 - 28 - NT Finale Brent Hambrick

I think you will find a lot of players playing most of those events. Rough schedule late in the year!

One: most of the reason the GCC has been so popular is because it's the weekend before the Memorial and is more or less on the way for many of the players.

Two: there used to always be close to a week in between.

Three: the Memorial TD probably doesn't care if his schedule changes impact someone else's event
