2019 Pros Switching Sponsors Official Thread

It is interesting that McBeth is signed up for Sun King presents Monster on the Mountain powered by Discraft/DGA. An A tier after all important tournaments are over... A Discraft sponsored event this late in the season might be a good time for an announcement. Pure speculation here.

Ehh… he really likes that course. He has played Throw Down several times.

To be fair to Robert. If this is happening, it is big news. But Discraft isn't letting Robert or other team members in on that type of info or negotiation. If he heard, it is from other players and rumor mills. So I wouldn't say that he is spilling any beans, he is just passing along the rumors that have been floating.

Are you sure? Cuz he seems SURE.

If you've been on here long enough, that's just his MO.

He needs everyone to know how cool he is.

Orrrrr, he just likes the course (he played and won there at the start of the year and has played it on other occasions). In his interview on Smashboxx last week, he said he was playing that one in part because his wife hasn't been to the course and he's anxious to show it to her. Also he mentioned something about combining the tournament with a trip to Disney World.

I'm always amused and at times perplexed at the amount of time and energy people put into threads like this. Even more so at the ones who take it so seriously.

Looking forward to my new CG Roc.

I'll sell and donate it to my favorite charity.

Or he could just be trying to keep Discraft's name in circulation. I don't put much stock in anything he says. If he's wrong he can just do another long winded pretentious goodbye and disappear for awhile again.

What does any of that have to do with me not being a man of my word?

Hes played throw down the mountain the last few years and its not a far drive from the IDGC not that surprising he signed up there.

Ill be posting my pre-post-McBeth Thunderbirds on Ebay for only $50.

It doesnt matter who McBeth plays for. Pros dont drive the growth of the sport. More safe and well maintained courses makes a much bigger impact. McBeth moving from Innova doesnt boot them from Dicks either.

Well, if he's wrong, Robert can just say, "I didn't say that."

I've been wrong before.

Right now, I have a bet for CG Roc that he signs. IF he loses, I'll find a CG Roc and send it away.

Willing to take any other bets.

It'll be interesting to see who if anyone Discraft does pick up, they seem to be halfway in one of their "we're really interested in disc golf" phases. Ultimate being their bread and butter they tend to put disc golf on the back burner in cycles, it's a shame too as they could have rivaled Innova if focus had been kept on the golf side.

It's crazy to me that you can still go here:
http://discgolf.discraft.com/team.html

...and not see Andrew Fish listed.

It's something that someone could deal with in literally 10 minutes. He's one of their elite players, and one of the absolute best players in the world.

Very odd to me.

Not all that much different. If you found an old flatter run teebird, you would have a teebird3.

There is a difference. Innova's speed model is based on rim width. Speed 7 = 17 mm rim, Speed 8 = 18 mm rim. So while the discs fundamentally fly the same, the rims have a different width. For those of us with short fingers, this matters. :)

Website is in the middle of upgrades. The person who did all that passed away over the winter unexpectedly and the new marketing guy is playing catch up.

We just completed team surveys for updates.

Sorry to hear that. I truly am.

But -- I'm not joking that it would take a few minutes to update that page with at least names of the current team members. It's seemed to me like Discraft doesn't even want people to know Fish is on the team at times. I can recall watching video where even the commentators aren't completely sure, and Fish is wearing a Discraft team shirt.

People who have been Team Discraft for a long time seem happy with the way they're treated there, though, and that's great. And money certainly talks. But some of this stuff would give me pause, if I was a big name considering signing with Discraft.

I haven't even read through all the tripe about Paul going to Discraft.

1. Paul is a business person and isn't above negotiating with anyone, I'm guessing.
2. The notion that Paul might use negotiation with Discraft to get more remuneration at of Innova wouldn't surprise me.
3. Innova would be well and truly stupid not to figure out a way to keep Paul. Period. You want him to retire under your brand, like Climo.
4. Why go after Paul, it's gonna cost you, when you can get a whole bunch of up and coming guys, like Kevin Jones, a model that you've been following for a few years now?
5. If you really want to sign a big ticket name, why Paul? Ricky, Nate Sexton - a regular commentator, Uli, Conrad. Shall I go on? It just doesn't make sense. The days of a single dominant player are over. Paul is still a top-five player, maybe even number one, but there are ten players that can beat him any given weekend. Paying top dollar for that is bad business.

If this happens, I will be shocked. Just because of the near sighted business aspect of it. People do do dumb things though.

Lol. As stated, it was pure speculation. That's literally the point of this thread. You are going to read through a lot of far-fetched comments. I wouldn't be too surprised at what you read.
