Critters on the course you ran into...

I was out playing this weekend and started to head back through the woods... outta nowhere a huge turkey jumped out and took flight up into the trees... friggin' startled the hell outta me... damn turkeys are scary :)

Quit beating around the bush and talk turkey! :| :| :|

Saturday at Fiddleneck DGC I saw an osprey carrying a fish away for lunch. Also saw the stripers boiling in the lake feeding on some smaller fish and about 15 deer of all sizes. There's always good wildlife out there.

For 3 nights in a row I've seen a fox on the way home from the course about a mile from my house. Never realized they were that small. Body was the size of a large cat/smallish dog.

I've been seeing quite a bit of wildlife lately. A small box turtle, a pileated woodpecker, and two sets of humming birds I'm guessing were mating just yesterday.

heck, I've seen a fox in Chicago... about one mile from downtown... those things are everywhere and yes, they are very small

One of many moose I saw the other day at Kincaid Park. This one may look small, but it's likely 6ft high at the shoulders.

The irony is, we've had an outbreak of blue-green algae which, unlike actual algae, is unhealthy to swim in. So I was inspecting the pond this morning to see if it was still there, wondering when I can swim again, and came across these toe-eaters, and thought, 2019.

I found some squirrel "pieces" on top of the #9 basket the other day. There are a lot of hawks around the course and I figure one must have used the basket as a lunch spot.

Damn, he looks MEAN!!!!

Unlike some courses that prohibit you from swimming after your discs, we let the wildlife handle the matter, and after that it's up to you do decide how great that disc really was.

Splinter is bound to be in the woods somewhere too...

Ground yellowjackets on in between holes 7 and 8. EVIL critters.... thankfully I didn't "run in" to them, just noticed the cloud of them before walking into it...

I dunno if 4 years is enough David, turtles live a long time. :\
Gotta agree with NAP... that sucker looks mean... like he'd enjoy liberating a toe or two.

Good point.

I'm assured by a lot of people that snapping turtles won't bother you in the water. Of course, all those people have been standing on dry land when they told me that.

I've never heard of them being aggressive and I still might swim in that pond... but I wouldn't let my feet touch bottom until I was in very shallow water and could pretty much see where I was steppin'!
