I got a random email this morning from DGCR that my name was invoked here. What a surprise to see all the positive comments, the TR badge by my name, and the decision to include me in the CZ club (although I have yet to figure out what all is involved in this great honor :geek:). Thanks to all...
LoL...I feel like a celebrity. My MO when I was a course bagger (started years before DGCR) was to play everything I could when I was in a given geography (and courses were MUCH harder to find back then with no user-friendly centralized directory like this awesome place!), and RATE...
I watch my college's hockey teams (both men & women) on ESPN+ for $6/mo. 8 or so games a month for $6. It is pretty good coverage. Of course, there is tons and tons of other content that ESPN+ makes available to me (that I could watch for the same fee if I wanted to).
$25 for one event does...
Since you were so flattering here, and you found my reviews helpful, I'll add my perspective on why I got so many :thmbdown:s.....and don't really care.
Exploring new courses and evaluating was a hobby way before DGCR. Matter of fact, course directories were VERY hard to come by back in the...
I'm bored and my ears must have been burning since I logged on a bit ago and saw some chatter here than involved me....and :thmbup:s and :thmbdown:s. I looked around a bit and noticed something that is newish (I suppose - I haven't spent much time here over the last years).....a tally of how...
New York Times article - picture of disc golfers, although no mention of disc golf

Good thoughts and explanations on the holes I picked on based on the stats. Thank you for putting that effort in. Like has been said already, having a ratings range rather than division would be helpful for scoring analysis. "MP50" could include really old geezers who just want to play with...
Congrats on the new course! Sounds like it was a long time coming, and took some real thought and real work to make this a reality. You definitely had some fun constraints!
What leaves me curious, is to see if my suspicions are well-founded or not: there are a relatively large number of holes...
This is a myth, plain and simple.
Typically folks don't travel far for C-Tiers so they know the course well.....and so what I think they are really saying is something like, "I play this course a ton, and I did not score as well as I expected myself to while trying harder than usual".
I used to do the score keeping for a pretty good number of PDGA tournaments, and I used real life results to run through the TD tools very similar to what you are suggesting. I did all sorts of scenarios to analyze the typical questions (myths....some of which are showing up here) and also to...
IMO, its only cool if you call it before you throw. Otherwise it's just a bad shot and the basket got in the way. Well, skip aces are always cool.....as is writing a 1 on the scorecard.
