It is a great disc for a straight forehand shot. I push the disc rather than slinging it, and it stays super-straight, with a mild fade at the end.

How is the Maul on forehand throws? I gave up trying to throw a river that way. It seems to need more spin to glide. I can throw a fury FH, though.

The champ and star Cheetahs don't seem as durable as other discs in champ and star plastic. They are much more durable than DX Cheetahs, though. And I haven't noticed a difference in the flight characteristics of Cheetahs in varying plastics, although I am not a very consistent thrower, and...

My complaint about "worn in" discs is that they are unpredictable. I'm not sure if that's really true, or if I am expecting the disc to fly like it did when it was new. And no matter what disc I throw, the flight usually doesn't follow my plans.

You can just fill up your sink with water, and see which discs float. Try it upside down, and push them far enough under so that the dome fills up with water. Or just drop them in sideways.

I'm hoping as I get used to the disc, I will be able to control it better.

A couple of years ago I had a wraith and I couldn't throw it. Too fast and too overstable. I just got a 150 blizzard, and it has the highest dome I've ever seen. Lately I've been lucky to get 300 feet on a throw, and today I was throwing that disc over 350. It turns over and keeps turning...

Unfortunately the Archangel only comes in DX. It won't last long in the woods. But a new one is great.

MVP Amp has been working well for me.

A new roadrunner is great. But they beat up really fast, no matter what plastic you get, and then they are unpredictable.

Discmania Jackal (FD) S-line is great. Innova Leopard and Cheetah and archon and Beast. Fury and Amp are very good too. I avoid throwing a River forehand. And I avoid throwing a Kite forehand or any kind of putter or midrange disc with a deep lip.
