Complaining About Facebook Auctions MEGATHREAD!!!

With Prodigy and Lat/West/DD all making superior plastic, Innova is getting left behind.

Innova isn't getting left behind at all. Innova & Discraft sell a lot more discs than Prodigy & Lat. One big reason is b/c Innova sells discs in stores that aren't just disc shops (Walmart, Gas Stations ect.). Also most people when they just start playing get Innova or Discraft discs (I'm sure most of us here on DGCR did also). The people who play this sport just for fun & don't care about PLH, OAT & proper form many never get any discs from any other companies than Innova or Discraft.

Ebay is not much better. Here is a clear production Roc3 for 149.00 or best offer. Plus $3.00 for shipping. WTF!!!! How about 13.99. Plus shipping.

I agree with you but they are losing out to some of us diehards who buy a ton more discs. I see beginners normally with 1-2 discs. I have around 80 and surely some of us have several hundred. Us 1%ers spend a lot, enough to make the boutique Companies money. I just think if Innova improved their plastics they could gain some market share back.

Im not arguing against it at all....Im all for people selling the stuff for what people will pay...its just there seems to be a lot more people out there now with more money than sense and they're driving up values fro the rest of us that actually want to throw this stuff.

I've even seen some pro disc golfers selling discs on facebook auctions, Catrina Allen just sold a 750 M3 for $65.

That auctions not over yet.......but thats kinda what I'm getting at. I put 30 on it which I felt was totally reasonable though I knew I had absolutely zero chance of getting it for that. I was at DGLO and Big Jerm had a team stamped D1 that he would sell for 25, I didn't get it I was out of money, but try getting any one of them to sell you one for that now....why do it what you can get 60+ for it and you don't even have to leave the house.

GG also recently put some stuff up, Paige Pierce and Sarah Hokum Ive seen selling.

that may be true, but that greed is like a virus slowly eating away at the core of humanity leading us down a blind alley and ultimately to our own demise

I agree that the prices at times can be outragious on some discs but I understand why everyone is after this M3...its the indestructible 750 plastic. I remember in an old thread everyone was arguing if people would pay $60+ for the 750 plastic...well people seem willing right now.

Wow, That means I should be able to get 200 for my purple color shift one??? lol

Im not sure its greed, though Im sure some of it is, as much as taking advantage of a situation. You can't tell me if you have a disc and someone was willing to pay you twice the going rate for it you wouldn't do it

https://www.facebook.com/groups/dollardiscgolfauctions/

This is the biggest "group" on facebook where you can buy & sell discs. Just ask to join & they will automatically accept you (don't even know why they have that obstacle). I joined & I agree that people buy discs for way more than they are worth. If you want to make $ I'd suggest selling discs on there.

ya im a member doesnt seem that ridiculous on most. some get pretty high up there. you also see some go for like nothing.
fyi they do that so that they can ban you. without the obstacle i dont think it is possible to ban somone

Right and so was CE....oh wait.........

Plus its hard to say somethings indestructible when its been out for less than a year and you can count on two hands how many people have actually seen it

don't get me wrong I want a 750 disc BAD.....but not bad enough to pay that for it...I can wait..

I would bet that internet posters who buy 50 discs still make up a tiny portion of disc sales overall. My guess is that upwards of 90% of disc golfers are the guys with 1-3 discs who play with their buddies a couple times per month. Innova still owns a bigger market share than all the other companies combined catering to that crowd, and most experienced players I run into on the course who aren't internet obsessed like most of us here still have bags full of Innova. It's great that a lot of smaller companies are finding niche spots in the market, but that's all they are so far.

Supply and demand. Simple economics. I say good for the seller and buyer. Bad if you wanted it for cheaper.

zenbot wins. Thread's over, hippies.

Again this really wasnt to debate the "morality" of it or whether or not people should be doing it, id be right there with them selling if I had the ammo for it......

It was more a comment on how it sucks for regular people that like throwing or want to try older stuff and how you basically can't even find a decent thrower anymore for a fair price because people bid them up 40 dollars in a minute......

If you want a "decent thrower", buy a currently produced disc from an established retailer. There's no OOP disc that you can't replace for throwing purposes with a disc that's available now for retail prices. If you have to have a specific disc that's no longer made, you don't have a lot of room to complain since the seller has all the leverage.

Complaining about things going up in price is ridiculous. The reasons for it are easy...more collectors=more demand and less items available per capita. Places like Facebook=more avenues to sell. There's a reason the big chain stores keep opening new stores.

People complain that DG isn't going mainstream fast enough, but when it does creep in that direction, people complain about things like this. You can't have it both ways. Maybe you should have collected sooner...you'd be the one raking it in now.

This. I'm finally getting to the point where I am working the expensive stuff out of my bag. Letting go of the TeeBirds (and First Run PDs) are the last step.
