Catrina Allen Prediction Thread

You're correct, it isn't the same. As I was writing it I had the notion that if someone used the word wantonly, it might be acceptable. But it's like other words that are taboo, in context it is unacceptable.

I went back and looked at what you posted. I had watched it volume down looking for facial expressions. It's all in the words. And yes,

"Yeah I know, you've called me ob on every shot." - As if it wouldn't matter if it was IB or not -

sounds pretty nasty, unprofessional (what is professional in a sports competition anyway?) and is quite noticeable. I do once recall at least one male player saying something similar, and no, I don't remember the venue, although Maple Hill sounds familiar. I don't think I would hold this against her, but I wouldn't hold it against a guy either. Heat of the moment. There are a few instances where I'm not willing to accept heat of the moment, the Sarah H. case is one. This isn't one for me.

You might acknowledge that she was unpleasant in this instance and I'd agree. I'd also wonder if that is how she always is? If so, yeah, I'd never want to be on a card with her, ever.

Hole 17 of that same video, she makes a par saving putt from circles edge and you can hear her say "F#@k yeah!" twice under her breath and give herself a little fist pump. It's that competitive fire that makes her one of my favorite golfers.

And as to the interaction at the end, without rewatching, isn't it something like "I know you think it's out, you've been calling me ob all week"? That's card tension caused by flawed course design imo. I hate organically defined OB where a single blade of grass can be the difference between in or out, and I'm guessing Cat does too. Strings ftw

It's not that she's pissed about going OB. It's that she seems to be blaming Jessica for it.

I think this goes back to the first round. JW and PP thought CA went OB way earlier than CA thought she went OB. A minor disagreement ensued. The impression I had is CA thought she was being ganged up on.

Was that the hole where she thought she crossed water? Or am I getting my tourneys crossed?

I think CA's ego was getting in the way of actual events there. No way she crossed land before *sploosh*

This is the rub. Benefit of the doubt goes to the player. If their weren't an issue with her on-course persona I'd think she would get the call her way.

You're not giving the entire story though.
1. There definitely WAS a way. You couldn't tell from that camera angle. But Cat isn't a cheater. So if she was passionate about it crossing, I'd lean towards it having gone over. And even if she hadn't, she's still going to be annoyed about having gone OB.
2. Jess KEPT saying "we threw the same shot". They didn't. Like, at all. And Jess KEPT saying it over and over again. I am super sure that Cat was annoyed with that. I definitely would have been.

This thread continues to be a **** show.

^agreed^

I'd nominate this for most Sportscenter-esque thread of the year if such an award existed.

Let Cat be Cat; it'd be great to see a PP vs. Cat duel every tournament but there are so many things going on in the lives of the different athletes in our sport that we shouldn't even think we have a right to know that it doesn't really matter.

Just like how PP went to DD and seems to be enjoying life more, I wish Cat nothing but the best whether she stays with Prodigy or goes somewhere else.

Having said all that, if she were to leave Prodigy, I'd expect that she'd end up under the L64 umbrella. It seems like DD and L64 split headline players pretty evenly (DD gets McCabe, L64 gets Ricky, DD gets Drew Gibson, etc) and I could see the "trilogy" wanting to split up exposure on the FPO side between the two brands.

I agree with all this. Except I'd think maybe Westside would be a better fit, going solely on style and appearance. Not to mention Trilogy is good about letting players jump between the three brands, maybe giving her a wider variety of molds to mess with. Not to mention they are yet to have a top headliner (maybe there is but I can't name them)

Did I really just wade through this entire thread? :|

1. If she likes the discs, Innova would probably be a good home for Cat.

2. I think there's bad blood between Cat and Paige from the Prodigy days. No, I don't think they like each other much. Having said that, the other women (Sarah, Jessica Weese, etc.) don't seem to show much affection for Cat, either...

3. Cat does seem to be a little too intense out there. But sometimes Ricky seems to be very intense out there, and he and Paul have gotten into some verbal 'philosophical discussions' over rules and such things. Can eyewitnesses tell us if Ricky is off to the side and not interacting?

4. If she's not injured, I expect Cat to get back into the groove and be at her best. Maybe not this week, though....

Actually, benefit of the doubt, which I heard first when I was seven in 1967, is a fallacy. There is no benefit of the doubt. The umpire makes the call and he is correct 100% of the time. That's how they train referees. This isn't the same, but the call is the same. The majority of the card makes the call. If there is no consensus, the player essentially makes the call, iirc. No benefit, just a majority call. In the event there is doubt, the official on the course makes the call. At no time is there the call, "well, we don't really know so we'll give it to the player."

The only thing with Westside is they don't seem to have any sort of team. I mean, even a small promotional team. All you hear is DD and L64, but never Westside except for their discs. I mean, I agree with you, but considering how they haven't added any even moderate names, let alone a big name, since Barsby left (I heard he was sponsored by Westside before Diety Discs, dunno if that's true), so I just don't see them as someone who would pick a name up.

Although, adding one of the top two or three women in the game would certainly be one way to start your sponsored team.
