You're correct, it isn't the same. As I was writing it I had the notion that if someone used the word wantonly, it might be acceptable. But it's like other words that are taboo, in context it is unacceptable.
I went back and looked at what you posted. I had watched it volume down looking for facial expressions. It's all in the words. And yes,
"Yeah I know, you've called me ob on every shot." - As if it wouldn't matter if it was IB or not -
sounds pretty nasty, unprofessional (what is professional in a sports competition anyway?) and is quite noticeable. I do once recall at least one male player saying something similar, and no, I don't remember the venue, although Maple Hill sounds familiar. I don't think I would hold this against her, but I wouldn't hold it against a guy either. Heat of the moment. There are a few instances where I'm not willing to accept heat of the moment, the Sarah H. case is one. This isn't one for me.
You might acknowledge that she was unpleasant in this instance and I'd agree. I'd also wonder if that is how she always is? If so, yeah, I'd never want to be on a card with her, ever.
