Pipeline DGC
This course was well thought out in a lot of ways. First, even the entrance way. This course is on a big soccer field complex, however, the DG course has it's own entrance (to the right about .2 mile) AND it has a sign at the road to let people know, then it has signs directing you...
Thank for posting this David!....Wish the weather would have been as good for the Ams as it was for the Pros, but I still say overall for the 1st year of having 2 weekends, it went really well.
Not too expensive?....Let's say he had 20 discs in his bag....at $17 that's $340. The bag he was using, was probably about $150 (I'm going low). With towels, mini's, etc....you are looking at well over $500. The monetary side alone will shake anyone, but the main thing is it was HIS stuff. It...
Exactly! I am FAR from being a pro, but have been playing for almost 15 years now, and playing tournaments almost as long. I have "won" a lot of plastic during that time, and have my primary tournament discs, and backups to everything as well. The backups I can and have made work, but it's just...
I'm just a few miles from Stoney Hill as well, and I have heard the coyotes here at my place as well, but in the 15 years that I've lived here, I have yet to see one. Of all the years playing Disc Golf here in the Carolinas, I cannot recall of anyone being gotten by animals, other than, like...
The good thing about the Carolinas is that you have year long DG.....we've had some colder than normal temperatures(for us), but from where you are it, it's nothing. It will take a bit for you to get used to the heat/humidity during the summers, but being younger, it won't be bad. As far as...
David Sauls pretty well covered it all. If you are on Facebook, there is a group page for us, it's Columbia Disc Golf Club. There's usually people who post where/when they are playing, and you can usually hook up with someone so you are not alone. Crooked Creek (original 18), and Earlewood are...
Sorry David, AM side is officially FULL now. But as of this morning, only 26 Pros, so, I have a feeling that if some Ams were holding back for whatever reason, and really want to play, they will be taking in the Pro weekend.
......and still PLENTY of spots open, for both weekends. Wow, we've not heard that in a LOT of years for this event. I remember back when we MAILED the forms to Ed's house, and at the end before we went to internet, there were people actually taking it to Ed's house to make sure they got in.
It really depends on the type of courses you play as to where the distance factor comes in to play. Here in the Carolinas, MOST of the courses are mostly woods, and technical, meaning that accuracy is needed much more than distance is. Yes, there are sections in most courses that "open up"...
My local course has a set of short tees, and long tees for almost every hole. We just played something similar just last Saturday, except we did a 2 disc doubles challenge from the short tees. Each of us got to choose which 2 discs and that is all we used. Made for a very fun (and quick) round...
If you play with a group, ask them what they throw, and ask if you can see how it feels in your hand.....as stated before, it all comes down to what feels best in YOUR hand. Then there is also the issue of hard putter vs. soft putter, and again, what feels best in YOUR hand. Once you do find...
I'll have to admit.....that 1st round was BRUTAL, I so wanted to just leave, especially standing on the tee for #16 waiting for the group in front of us to move along so we could tee off. The wind coming off the water, hitting us while we were soaked......but that 2nd round made up somewhat for...
For those that have not played an event like this, it is one of the most fun times you will have. I'm really looking forward to this one, as I have not yet played where all 4 members of the team interact like this event does. The "tweaking" that David and Chris did for this one is really going...
For a few years I put on an event for Halloween, and did a "Hole from Hell", usually #13. I took flag ribbon, and made double mandos that snaked along through the normal fairway to make my own fairway up to the basket. The first mando was just far enough away that it was easy to reach, but...
