I have to say that the live coverage has been pretty good... and it sounds like Winthrop University has been pretty supportive of the event over the years. But if the sport continues to grow then there will have to come a time when the sport needs to move on to a more professional course...

I don't think he is "taking anyone's spot" in the tournament. If he decided not to register then its not like they would open up more spots for someone else to register. I wonder if he will have second thoughts about commentating if he is on lead card after round 1...

I’m no expert on ratings.... but I would argue that it makes sense because a course can play so much differently depending on the conditions ( wind, rain, etc). It wouldn’t be fair to get the same rating for shooting the same score in perfect conditions vs 25 mph wind.

After seeing 2 rounds of unique shots through some well defined wooded fairways... it was sure nice to see 18 holes of throwing a distance driver into an open field.

I disagree. Interacting with these pros might be a part of "growing the sport"... but ultimately it is always about the money. Which means creating revenue. Getting views online is probably the biggest potential to create more revenue for the sport, other than people simply buying more...
