Should a world distance record with wind assistance count?

Look at World Records for sprints, especially the 100-meter sprint (the world's fastest man/woman) -- how much has their equipment changed over the years -- shoes, clothing, starting blocks. Or, look at the high jump -- the "Fosbury Flop" revolutionized that event. Techniques and technologies...

    DGCR 10K in 2010 Giveaway!

My 2 favorite courses: Seven Oaks in Nashville, TN (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=373) The "Sinks" in Chattanooga, TN (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=117) Suggestions for the site -- none that I can think of -- you have done an awesome job, and this site helped me...

Should a world distance record with wind assistance count?

I agree -- look at freediving (one sport that quite possibly has less exposure than disc golf) -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freediving -- notice that there are multiple discipline categories such as pool/open water, fins/no fins, use of weights, use of guide ropes, etc. While we aren't as...

Dogs don't belong on disc golf courses

I had my 1st bad dog experience on a DG course the other week -- my buddy and I were ahead of 2 guys who had a dog (off-leash) that had seemed friendly when we had ben around them before at teedpads and such. Then, while they were looking for a disc in some thick stuff, we got further ahead of...

    Dirty Homer

To truly go Simpsons with this quote, it would need to be "D'oh ahead - make my day."

Where are these scary courses you all play at?

That kind of surprises me about that course, being as it's somewhat remote from any urban centers -- not saying that it can't happen anywhere, but you don't exactly have the steadiest stream of traffic through the park.

    PDGA Discipline

Also notice that the letter mentions that he was not aware children were present. For a lot of people, especially in our current times, the presence of children can totally change how an action such as his was received. I wonder if it would have been a different response if children were not...

Shoes, boots or crocks? did i really just say crocks?

Merrell Moab Mids with GoreTex -- waterproof, excellent support around the ankle, sturdy but not overly heavy, and will take a beating and a half. My only regret is that I only found out about these shoes this past spring.

    Disc golf video game

Maybe with the new systems Microsoft and Sony are working on for motion-control of games, we will see something across all 3 platforms -- could be a couple of years out, though.

Drink enough of the marketed product, and it will be right-side-up for you!

    Ace signage idea

Not sure -- I haven't had a chance to get down there and play since those signs were put on. I'm thinking, though, that Sharpie or ballpoint on vinyl would last in the rain, unless it's a good old monsoon. I'm also not sure on how often they are updated, but I'm betting some of the guys in the...

    Ace signage idea

One of the courses near me, Lost Indian Spring (Arkabutla Lake in North MS) has placed signs on the back of the number plate for you to record ace info (name, date, witnesses, etc.) -- from the course photo gallery: Basket Ace Info Photo. After a while, the info will be transferred to the main...

Do aces count if they aren't your first throw?

Here's another thought on the bowling example -- on my first try on the frame, I gutter-ball and get nothing. So, I step up for my second try, and knock down all the pins. I did the same thing as what is called a strike, but because it did not happen on the 1st ball, it is called a spare...

My first dye, looks like crap

"Dookie" would be a reference to Green Day, and the cover of said album, whihc featured a lot of, well, dookie. "Doodie" would be a reference to "Caddyshack" and the 1st word that is screamed as the candy bar is seen floating in the pool. So, I guess both are correct. On another note, we...

    Sinking Deep!

A buddy and I were playing the course at Arkabutla Lake in North MS before they installed the tee pads -- probably mid- to late-January. It was probably in the 40s or 50s, overcast, and the wind was blowing out of the north -- pretty brisk day, especially for this area. There is a creek...

    Biggest Nuisance

I always thought of shule as the undergrowth in an area that forms a kind of "carpet" on the ground -- ivy (poison or not) and other vine-type plants come to mind. Objects (especially discs, which are flat and can come in on a low approach) can slide under this "carpet" and be concealed pretty...

    Keeping "YOUR" course clean...

If the course is in a public park and has been installed in part with Parks Dept. money, I would be interested if there were trashcans in other areas of the park that are maintained by Parks Dept. employees. If there are trashcans near picnic areas, playgrounds, etc. that the Parks Dept...

    I'm seeing double!

One of the courses in Wall Doxey State Park in MS (Spring Creek AKA The Jungle) has a teepad somewhat like that, but instead of 2 routes for one hole, it is for 2 different holes -- #7 goes off to the right, # 18 goes off to the left
