Yesterday my 2-year old daughter (almost 3) went up to my wife and said, "Mom, let's go to the playground, but let's go play disc golf first." I guess I'm doing something right...

Nice West Texas Course
At its best (1-9) the course is excellent. It has a variety of shots, elevation, and terrain to keep things interesting. The back 9 give a chance to air it out a little more. Tee boxes (concrete) and baskets are in good shape.
Almost no help with navigation other than...
If I can see a disc, but don't think it's worth the effort to get (i.e. briar patch example), is it lost or abandoned? There are a lot of reasonable explanations for finding a disc that isn't lost. I would be surprised if expecting the finder to make the phone call or text would hold up in...
There are two very big "ifs" that must be proven before you can call it theft (according to the link provided). First, the finder must know the disc was lost. Second, the finder must only make a reasonable effort to return the disc.
It isn't defined how a finder would know a disc is lost...
I played for several years closer to 400 than 350. I could out last people literally half my size in the Houston summer. I would often play 18-36 holes and 4 softball games in an afternoon/evening. Granted, I was probably the exception rather than the rule, but weight isn't the only factor in...
I agree with the counting calories. I started out somewhere above 380. I'm down to 291 since the second week of April. When I started, I built a spreadsheet to record calories per meal/day and daily weight. Being obsessive about tracking it has made me more aware of what I'm eating and when...
What about setting a limit on the number of molds (plastic dependent) and not the actual number of discs. A champion boss and pro boss would count as 2, but 5 rocs would count as 1. This would theoretically (doesn't account for wear of individual discs) limit the number of "club" options...
Sounds good. A Friday or Saturday usually works best for me. The next couple of weekends are pretty full, but maybe we can get a round in end of August/first of September.
Just curious, how well does Kingwood stay dry?

Beginner Course
The course was easy to follow and seemed to be well maintained. There was a nice mix of long and short holes for a little variety.
There isn't much in the way of obstacles or technical shots. You can get in a little trouble along the perimeter, but it's hard to get into too...
I've never actually played Kingwood. Went out and walked around once to kind of see the course shortly before Ike, but never got back to actually play it. Most of my friends that play are in the Conroe/Woodlands area so I tend to go that direction for a round. One of these days I'm sure I'll...

Plays fast
Played very fast (not crowded when I was there). It was challenging, but not overwhelming to me. Concrete tee boxes
Course needs a lot of maintenance. Signs are missing, damaged, or illegible. A couple of baskets are missing. Could be made more interesting by utilizing the...

Memorial Park
Nice little 9-hole course that I think maximizes the available real estate. Easy enough for beginners, but interesting enough for veteran players.
The tee boxes are very close to the baskets. The driver must be aware of other disc golfers because in many spots it doesn't take a...
No, it's like comparing ice hockey to floor hockey. They're both hockey. Par in disc golf, as in ball golf, should be an indication of the length/difficulty of the hole against a standard definition (which is separate topic). At the end of the day it's the number of throws/strokes that...
I started carry extras for throwing over water or other situations where losing a disc is likely. If you only have one midrange and it goes in the drink on the second hole, you either have to go swimming or play without.
Almost killed my dad the first time I took him to play. My brothers and I went to Picnic Bend in San Angelo and took dad with us. As we were making our way down the hill after driving on hole #3, dad lost his footing and lost control going down the hill. Somehow he managed to stay upright the...
The black and tan female we got as a puppy a little over a year ago. We found the male at the front of our neighborhood trying to get himself run over. He had no collar or chip. We put up signs in case someone was looking for him, but no one claimed him.
Haven't taken them with me, but the...
My wife would occasionally play a round with me if the weather was nice. This winter she walked several rounds with me over the Christmas holidays in hopes the walking would induce labor before she had to go back to school (she's a school librarian). She couldn't throw, but she caddied for me...
