The Best Disc Golf State is...

so i guess i can make assumptions and say you are a redneck, nascar watching, tobacco chewing illiterate because you are in nc

feel free to make any assumption you'd like...why are you so hostile though man? i'm just curious, i'd love to play a round with you, see how you shoot, maybe figure out a/the reason(s)...and illiterates don't know the word demeanor, so that shoots that theory out of the water:D

so i guess i can make assumptions and say you are a redneck, nascar watching, tobacco chewing illiterate because you are in nc

I think that our impression of you, 80played, is more based on your choice of words and malicious posts, than it is based on where you live.

wow

doesn't matter where i live...i'm honest and don't like arrogant, pompopus *******s...sorry

no reason to apologize, no offense taken... this is the internet and you're just as guilty as anyone you accuse, just as i am, and basically anybody on a forum...these are all opinions...but where's the hostility coming from man? do you have no other way to vent than to bash others on-line? i'm not accusing, i'm just giving my opinion...and if that's arrogant, or pompous (by the way, check your spelling, it's a part of being a literate yankee) i don't give a **** because apparently i'm an *******...and proud of it

and please, if you're ever in NC playing the good courses, look me up...i'm dying to find out what is shoved so far up your butt?

...but where's the hostility coming from man?

i figured it out...80played doesn't like "arrogant, pompous *******s" and yet his username is 80playedin10states...to me that sounds kinda like he's bragging right from the get go. One man's facts is another man's boast. so my slippery slope leads me to believe that 80played doesn't like himself so he's got to tear down all others...but hey, whatever works for him...anonymity allows for some big balls i guess

by the way, i can't stand a hypocrite, but that's just me

i speak this way to people in person if they deserve it...i dont hide behind my computer...fortunately golfers here aren't arrogant a holes...sorry if im bragging about a mere 80 courses and 10 states...all my facts are in my profile..im not hiding from anyone..and i was playing courses in nc when you were popping zits and trying to get in the cute cheerleaders panties

Here are some stats I ran in the Bagged every state thread: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2212

Sure it still may be a biased poll, but at least now you can have some statistical data to help or hinder your argument. Oh, and yes I'm Texan and I'm voting for Texas - shocker!

Good luck!

(BTW - I think it's real ironic that I mention 80States - may he rest in peace - in this post in the middle of March...hmmm...I think there may be something to this. :D)

Okay so I got a little bored again and decided to throw up current DG courses by state based on the DGCR search engine. Here are your results from highest to lowest. This may help with the great state race. Enjoy!

1. Texas - 190 (Everything's bigger in Texas!)
2. California - 145
3. Iowa - 140 (That's right people - Iowa)
4. Wisconsin - 136
5. Minnesota - 135
6. Illinois - 126
7. Michigan - 115 (At least the unemployed can enjoy an array of disc golf!)
8. Ohio - 95
9. North Carolina - 93
10. Colorado - 89
11. Kansas - 77 (Go Jayhawks!)
12. Pennsylvania - 74
13. Florida - 62
14. Oregon - 60
15. Kentucky - 58
16. Indiana - 57
17. Missouri - 54
18. Oklahoma - 53
19. Georgia - 51
20. Virginia - 50
21. Tennessee - 46
22. Washington - 45
23. New York - 43 (TIE)
23. Nebraska - 43 (TIE)
25. Mississippi - 39 (TIE)
25. South Carolina - 39 (TIE)
27. South Dakota - 36
28. Idaho! - 32
29. Alabama - 31
30. Montana - 30
31. Maine - 29
32. Arizona - 26
33. North Dakota - 25
34. New Mexico - 24 (We're gaining on you Arizona!)
35. Louisiana - 21
36. Arkansas - 20
37. Maryland - 19
38. Massachusetts - 18
39. Wyoming - 17 (TIE) (Yeah, Wyoming's not last in something! Eat it Utah.)
39. Utah - 17 (TIE)
41. Alaska - 16 (Yes, we count too.)
42. New Jersey - 14 (TIE) (But first in murder rates J )
42. West Virginia - 14 (TIE)
44. New Hampshire - 12 (TIE)
44. Connecticut - 12 (TIE)
46. Delaware - 11
47. Nevada - 9 (So much land, so little disc golf)
48. Vermont - 7
49. Hawaii - 6
50. Rhode Island -2 (Well, what did you expect???)

However, even though Texas wins in sheer number - one could also look at the fact that Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois combined are about the size of Texas. This means that their 537 total kicks Texas out of the water, but then again at least you can disc golf in Texas in the winter. :)

Here's another list - (yeah, like you thought I was done yet…) you could also factor the state population by the number of courses, so if you want to see how many people are in your state per DG course - here is your list ordered least to greatest based on 2008 numbers taken from Wikipedia.

In the words of Michael Scott, "And since anyone can do stuff on Wikipedia, you know it's going to be accurate."

1. Iowa - 21,446
2. South Dakota - 22,338
3. North Dakota - 25,659 (So close to finally being better than South Dakota!)
4. Wyoming - 31,333 (Yes, in the top 5! Again, eat it Utah)
5. Montana - 32,248
6. Kansas - 36,391
7. Minnesota - 38,669
8. Wisconsin - 41,382
9. Nebraska - 41,475
10. Alaska - 42,893
11. Maine - 45,395
12. Idaho - 47,619
13. Vermont - 51,772
14. Colorado - 55,499
15. Oregon - 63,167
16. Oklahoma - 68,723
17. Kentucky - 73,607
18. Mississippi - 75,349
19. Delaware - 79,372
20. New Mexico - 82,681
21. Michigan - 86,986
22. North Carolina - 99,165 (Yeah - under a 100,000.)
23. Illinois - 102,393

25. Indiana - 111,873
26. South Carolina - 114,866
27. Ohio - 120,904
28. Texas - 128,036 (Better start getting it in gear. Can't have something we're not tops in!)
29. West Virginia - 129,604
30. Tennessee - 135,106
31. Arkansas - 142,769
32. Washington - 145, 538

34. Virginia - 155,381
35. Utah - 160,966
36. Pennsylvania - 168,219
37. New Hampshire - 187,972
38. Georgia - 189,916
39. Louisiana - 210,037
40. Hawaii - 214,699
41. Arizona - 250,006
42. California - 253,494 (36,756,666 people? Are you kidding me?)
43. Nevada - 288,907
44. Connecticut - 291,771
45. Florida - 295,618
46. Maryland - 296,505 (Better work some more DG courses into the stimulus package DC!)
47. Massachusetts - 360,998
48. New York - 453,262
49. Rhode Island - 525,394 (Think how this will jump when the third course is built!)
50. New Jersey - 620,190 (Again, always happy to bring up the rear. Really, I mean you couldn't beat a state with 2 courses??? Sad day Jersey, sad day.)

As always these numbers are indisputable fact and simply cannot be debated on threat of death.

Just kidding - I was just hoping 80States would read that part. :) Seriously though - makes you want to move to Iowa - well maybe…

Also, back to the Great Lake States versus Texas battle in my previous post - here are the new results:
Texas - 128,036
Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois - 49,818
A solid victory again even though Illinois weighed it down a bit.

In Texas we do everything bigger and better. We have beautiful courses all across the state.

Spoken like a true Texan. Bless your heart.

Proven in Texas to be the nicest way to pity someone. He is such an idiot - bless his heart. I'll put up with you even though you're annoying - oh bless your heart.

Poor guy just feel in a ravine, broke both his legs, was bitten by a snake while waiting for help, and everything had to be amputated because of the horrible gangrene - oh bless his heart!
