Do you have a top 10 course list? top 20 . . . top 50?

My top ten

1. Sugar Bottom, North Liberty, Iowa
2. Turkey Creek, North Libery, Iowa
3. Towne Lake, McKinney, Texas
4. McPherson Park, Flagstaff, Arizona
5. Pennisula, Iowa City, Iowa
6. Veterans Park, Arlington, Texas
7. Z Boaz, Forth Worth, Texas
8. Wildcat Bluff, Urbana, Iowa
9. Thorpe Park, Flagstaff, Arizona
10 Lestor Lorch Park, (both courses) Cedar Hill, Texas This was very difficult to do due to the variables involved. These are my favorites of the courses I have played so far. So many more courses that I need to play that these could certainly change over time.

The above is my revised list. I am going to stick with this, for now.

My (very subjective) Top 10 Courses Played

1) Idlewild - Burlington, KY
2) Flip City Disc Golf Park - Shelby, MI
3) Sugaree - Linville, NC
4) The Lodge - Island Course - Pawhuska, OK
5) Hawk Hollow - ?, VA
6) Water Works Park - Kansas City, MO
7) Holler in the Hills - Brownsville, KY
8) Pickard Park - Indianola, IA
9) Hickory Hills - Traverse City, MI
10) Hudson Mills Metropark - Original - Ann Arbor, MI

Courses I have played: 110 in 19 states

I don't see the draw to Waterworks. I played it and was less than thrilled. It's just the same old stuff over and over again - rolling hills in a city park with shady characters in the parking lot. What gives? Why the fascination?! There is no extreme elevation, no water, no thick wooded tunnels. To me it's atypical city park with lots of mature trees, and it just happens to have lots of rolling terrain instead of being flat.

Ok, so don't put it in your top 10. :\

Oh, and thanks for giving my review a thumbs down, too.

You alternate OH/MI for 11 courses (5 through 15). That is some sort of record.

Only played 3 states. Obviously, played the Ohio courses most, but the Michigan courses kick ass. Determining personal favorites was tougher than I thought. It's the elusive FUN factor. I've played around 7 KY courses but only 2 made the list.

Alum is very new but definitely with potential as the changes and improvements like cement pads will get put in place for Am Worlds.

Oh, and thanks for giving my review a thumbs down, too.

Don't thank me, and suck it up! It's not on my top 10 list, and I'm not knocking your love for it. It was my opinion, meant to stir discussion. But you provide no meanigful discussion about why you do like it. Simply message board retaliation with no substance.

I didn't give you a thumbs down, because I don't give thumbs down when I just don't AGREE with the review. I understand the difference between a review being helpful and whether or not I agree with it. However, there is not much substance in your review of this world class course of 100 that you've played. Waterworks has 25 reviews. Many of which are extremely helpful. Other lack by comparison. I can't believe the first review has 11 of 12 helpful votes! "...one of the best I've played..." - and he has 2 courses listed as played. I'll be adding to the thumbs down on that review!!!

Two users thought your review was not helpful. The real step would be to ask why they thought so. But instead you take it out on me.

Okay, my reply seems harsh as I read through it again, but I'm leaving it as is. Sure, discussion about why peope like waterworks is an aside from this topic, and harr's initial post asked people not to argue their list it or justify it, so I suppose I was wrong to question anyway.

35 played, all but one of those in California.

Top 10:

1) Stafford Lake - Novato, CA
2) De Laveaga - Santa Cruz, CA
3) La Mirada 18 hole championship layout * - La Mirada, CA
4) Skyline Wilderness Park - Napa, CA
5) Golden Gate Park - San Francisco, CA
6) Shady Oaks - Orangevale, CA
7) Morley Field - San Diego, CA
8) Waller Park - Santa Maria, CA
9) Condon Park - Grass Valley, CA
10) Parque de la Raza - San Jose, CA

* even though they have the land split into two 18-hole courses outside of tournament time, you can still basically play this layout if the course area isn't too busy.

One course that I'm guessing would land a spot on this list would be Lake Casitas, which I've been meaning to get down to for a couple years now. I also really need to play more courses out of CA!

I'm looking to take a Cali Coast trip and will try and hit up many of these courses (San Diego up to Stafford). I tried to play casitas once and it was closed for a Xcountry meet, which is devastating since I was so stoked to play it while on vacation (from PA). I like that you mentioned La Mirada Championship layout. I wasn't too big a fan of the front 18, but have heard the tourney layout is insane.

Here's a couple great maps that make up the 18 hole course at LaMa. Holes 14-16 as listed on the back side map are currently pulled, sadly... but the rest you can play as long as there's no groups playing the 'regular' layouts in front of you.

Shoot me a PM when you know your schedule for the Bay Area portion of your trip, would be happy to be a local guide for DeLa/GGP/Napa/Stafford.

I didn't give you a thumbs down

I apologize for accusing you, then. I had 1 thumbs down early yesterday, and when I checked later on I had two. You can see how it would be easy to jump to the wrong conclusion. My bad.

And Water Works was fun for me. I played it early in the morning and had the course to myself. There was no one in the parking lot. So obviously my experience was different than yours. We'll have to leave it at that.

I look forward to traveling to Wisconsin soon to play some of the courses in your list.
