I threw a TeeBird and liked it enough. But then I picked up my friend's TL (TeeBird Long) and absolutely loved it. I have a Star TL and it's one of my favorite discs.
Throwing at a friends house of mine at my Mach Lite catcher. The only thing in between the catcher and where we were driving from was a freshly cut grass field.
Well we each threw about 4 drivers...found all but one. And of course its the bright pink one...
I've only been playing disc golf a little over a year. When I first started I couldn't throw backhand at all and developed a pretty solid forehand shot. I would say my first milestone was March 2010 when I finally figured out how to throw a backhand for distance.
Now I throw almost completely...
I agree with this. The first disc I started out with was a Valkyrie. It is very consistent and doesn't need a "big arm" to throw it far or well. It well help you learn form and overall consistency.
One of the first discs I got was a Leopard...awesome disc. Does what you want it to, when you...
The pinky is taken off the inside of the rim.
This is my grip, I love it. I started with the 4 finger but once I tried and got used to the 3 finger I was throwing a lot more accurately, farther, and consistently.
I just say go out and try it for a round or maybe a hole or two.
For max distance, I pull out my 169g Champion Orc! Love this disc, I've had it sense I started playing, so a little over a year.
Its beat up just right now, if I release it at just the right angle It will take off turn right and then come back left at the end of the flight. My longest throw...
So, the general consensus is that: Makos are great for longer approach shots, windy long putts, will hold pretty much any line you put it on, but will also turnover with more power.
I need a midrange that isn't gonna flip on me without me wanting it to do so...I'm not that controlled just yet...
The first question I wanna ask is: what is your body position during the putt?
I've been through a lot of different putting techniques and styles. From the usual right foot forward to a lefty set up with the left foot forward. I had the same problem as you for the longest time.
What I have...
I'm looking into getting a new mid-range disc or two.
Almost positive I'm going to get an X or ESP Buzzz. But was just wondering if anyone has thrown a Mako and liked how it throws?
Just recently I have been correcting a lot in my throw and can now throw around 425 on a good throw. I'm generating a lot more power and with my DX plastic drivers I turn them over so much easier than Champion or Star plastics.
From now on, I am going to purchase mostly Star and Champion...
