The first family of disc golf....the Jenkins family which is terribly timely as Leroy just passed. RIP. The whole family dynamic and of course having both children grow into world champions would make a good story.
As someone who has worked in the casino business....you won’t see sports betting in something like Disc golf and the reason is too much risk and no reward.....all it takes is someone with inside knowledge that the house does not have (not difficult in a fringe sport like Disc golf) and the house...
Just finished playing the courses this weekend for am world doubles.....fairways are in great shape as well as the greens....was a bit muddy in the usual low lying spots but nothing very bad or not easily avoided. I feel like the courses has really grown in since the last time I was there...
Am players pack was disappointing compared to last year. Same bag just uglier and the apparel from last year was much better. Oh well still worth way more than the entry fee....once I finish selling the discs I will double the buy in.
Several years ago at the Shoot the Breeze tournament in Ohio....I'm playing men's Rec so most of the players (myself included) are not all that accurate. Not sure of the hole but off to the left of the fairway is a large covered pavilion that runs parallel to the fairway. While we are playing...
As someone who has complained about both the quality of footage and commentary in the past few years I just wanted to mention how much I enjoyed watching Jomez coverage with Big Jerm and Nate Sexton doing commentary. The video coverage has really come a long way in the past few years. Those 2...
I would not invest in disc golf....the entire sport celebrates how inexpensive it is.....and the even bigger problem is disc golf isn't a spectator sport so there is no real outside money coming in. Sure more people play every year but where is the profit to be made other than the top disc golf...
So I was right all along....save your money kids bc you ain't getting rich discing even if you are the best player in the world....and besides Paul none of you are.
Of course I won't believe this until I hear it from Paul or see a tax return but yes I would be extremely shocked.....no wonder Val decided to quit Innova if they are in fact sending that much cash his way.
There's no way he is a one percenter.....do you guys really think he is profiting 450k a year? I would be shocked if he even makes 150k and that's before all of his expenses.
That is probably true....I am part of the 1 percent and don't fit many of the disc golf stereotypes....and don't consider Paul as earning very much. I'm sure to many disc golfers even a 50k a year job sounds like a lot.
Even Paul doesn't make that much and he is making the most of anyone...you better love the sport in order to be a touring pro bc it is a terrible way to try and make a living for anyone else. It really shouldn't be a surprise that they don't make much money....disc golf isn't a spectator sport...
Blatant outright cheating will occur in the lower levels far more often than in the higher levels for both men and women. I play men's int and sometimes adv and everyone who I play with is counting strokes and making sure about In/out of bounds but I rarely play c tiers so my competition are...
The game people want to watch is called football....the game we all like to play is just fine as it is. Disc golf isn't a spectator sport no matter how much many of you want it to be.
